Busy moms need a workout schedule and plan that fits into their daily lives. If it doesn't, or it's unrealistic, it's only not going to get done.
But working out is good for our health. How are you supposed to make the time for it, and how many minutes are we talking about here? Continue reading to learn how to make time for your mommy workouts and the workouts you need for good health.
"I don't have time to workout as a mother!"
When I first had a baby, I remember thinking there was no way to fit in working out. And honestly, for most of that first year, I did not. But, after not having moved my body as much as it needed, I felt it after my second pregnancy.

Some of the reasons why I didn't work out was because I lacked time. I felt that I couldn't make time to work out with everything that was happening in motherhood.
Even half an hour for a mommy workout can feel like a luxury.
Eventually, I resolved myself to not having time for me. And well, ultimately, that backfired. I gained more weight than I was comfortable with, I didn't feel comfortable in my body, and I hid behind big skirts and large shirts.
In reality, I look back at the pictures during that time, and I looked just fine. A lot of what I was feeling was in my head, but it resulted from low endorphins.
Endorphins make mothers feel better and fight off negative feelings
See, working out increases our natural endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals that activate in our bodies when we exercise. These chemicals serve as pain-reduction and make you feel good inside.
Endorphins increase the positive feelings and thoughts you have about ourselves and your world. These powerful feelings of euphoria connect to our mental health.

Have you ever noticed that after a workout, you feel, "I want to do that AGAIN."? (And also noting here that endorphins activate after good sex.)
It's the reason why, after good sex, most people have a feeling of overall wellness and bliss. It makes a lot of sense that I felt down about myself during those early years of motherhood when I wasn't moving my body much.

Now that I exercise regularly (and make it a priority in my life), I see a direct connection to my inner confidence and positive outlook.
All It Takes is 10-Minutes a Day
Most moms don't have 1-2 hours to workout. But, the good news is that all you need is just under 10 minutes to activate your endorphins.
That's excellent news! It means that in just 10 minutes each day, you can produce your natural feelings of joy AND better your overall health (both physically and psychologically).
As a busy mom, you can fit ten minutes to yourself. And here are some ways to do it:
- Before the baby wakes up
- After the baby goes to bed (assuming this is the early evening)
- When your partner comes home from work
- Before your partner goes to work
- Before you go to work (engage your partner in morning preparations)
- During your lunch break
- When the baby is napping

Yoga for Mothers
I recommend that during the week, you do yoga workouts. It helps to activate your cleansing breathes, stretch your body and get a good workout.
Yoga also does not need to be 1+hours a day for you to get the benefits of it. I often will do 10-minute yoga workouts in the morning and feel endorphins as I start my day.

How to Make Exercise a Habit
Don't wait for the motivation to come. It may not. Instead, do it.
You have to add it to your calendar and commit to it as you would a Doctor's appointment. You don't miss a Doctor's visit because you don't feel like it or don't have the motivation to go. You simply go. It's the same for your mommy workout schedule. You commit to it.
Start small with a 7 - 10-minute workout, because now you know that it's enough to increase your positive feelings and your body's well-being. It takes 21 days for a habit to form.
And once your body relies on its natural good feelings, you'll want more.
